The Jacksonville Jaguars reportedly attempted to make a different free agent signing at running back earlier this offseason but the effort fell through.
According to Luka Evans of the Denver Post, the Jaguars attempted to sign running back JK Dobbins during the NFL’s free agency period. In fact, the deal was “near-done,” Evans said.
However, Dobbins would end up re-signing with Denver. Dobbins’ deal with the Broncos was for two-years and $16 million, including $8 million guaranteed this season.
When on the field, Dobbins has been productive, but unfortunately, injuries have been a part of his career. From 2021-2023, Dobbins appeared in only nine games and missed all of the 2021 season.
In 2024 with the Chargers, Dobbins rushed for over 900 yards in only 13 games. Last year in Denver, he eclipsed 700 rushing yards despite playing in only 10 games.
With Travis Etienne leaving in free agency, addressing the running back position was on the Jaguars radar this offseason. Ultimately, the Jaguars signed Chris Rodriguez to a two-year, $10 million deal.
Rodriguez, Bhayshul Tuten, and LeQuint Allen will presumably share the workload out of the backfield.
