A commercial semitractor-trailer bound for Canada was selected for inspection as it neared the Blue Water Bridge in Port Huron on Thursday, according to a U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) press release.

Officers and K-9 units examined the vehicle and found 55 bricks of a white powdery substance that had been shrink-wrapped and concealed in two cardboard boxes, authorities said. Subsequent testing revealed that the substance was cocaine.

According to CBP, 133 pounds of cocaine has a street value around $2.5 million.

“With this drug seizure, our frontline officers have dealt another significant financial blow to the transnational criminal networks attempting to exploit our shared border for profit,” said CBP Port Director Jeffrey Wilson in the release.

Officers seized the drugs, as well as the tractor-trailer. The driver, a citizen of India, will face federal charges, officials said.

“Every narcotic interdiction breaks a link in the criminal supply chain,” said CBP Director of Field Operations Marty C. Raybon. “We will not allow our borders to be a conduit for dangerous drugs, and we’ll continue to hold accountable those involved.”

This seizure is just the latest alleged cocaine bust in the vicinity of the Blue Water Bridge, which connects Port Huron, Michigan, to Point Edward and Sarnia, Ontario, in Canada.

In August 2025, Canadian authorities found more than 769 pounds of suspected cocaine in a commercial truck that was crossing the bridge.

In October 2024, St. Clair County sheriff’s deputies seized more than 370 pounds of cocaine found in a vehicle near the bridge

In March, the Canada Border Services Agency said two men were arrested after trying to smuggle 245 pounds of cocaine over the border.
