Navarre High School – Sophia Macias

Sophia Macias, 12th grade: Sophia Macias is Navarre High School’s nominee for the PNJ Student of the Week. A senior and natural leader, Sophia serves as team leader for our school’s Experimental Science Raiderbots program and has spent the past two years as a teaching assistant for the program. Her dedication to science extends far beyond the classroom. She has competed in a wide range of STEM competitions, including BEST Robotics, National Science Bowl, Ocean Bowl, SeaPerch ROV, Drones in Schools and Science Olympiad. In Science Olympiad alone, Sophia has either competed in or mentored students in all 23 events offered, an impressive accomplishment that reflects both her depth of knowledge and her commitment to helping others succeed. Last year, she helped lead her Ocean Bowl team to a national competition appearance. Sophia is also passionate about giving back. Through Science National Honors Society, she helped design and launch outreach programs that bring hands-on science experiences to younger students in the community. Known for her strong work ethic, creativity, and compassion, Sophia Macias is a student who inspires those around her and represents the very best of the Experimental Science program and Raider Nation.

Pace High School – Braelyn Witt

Braelyn Witt, ninth grade: Braelyn is always on task and is always respectful. She participates in all activities in class and is very kind to all other students.  This week she went out of her way to make a new student feel welcome in class.
