Who is the biggest x-factor on the Bucs roster in 2026?

We are just weeks away from the start of training camp for NFL teams. The 2026 season will see their preseason start less than a month from now, and with everything fast approaching, the time for final thoughts and takeaways on rosters is starting.

ESPN is in the thick of it all in terms of their reflection on NFL rosters. They recently posted several talking points for fans to think about with their teams with various analysts from their network. One of the angles they recently discussed was the biggest x-factor of every roster.

For the Bucs, they are pointing at the team’s presumed WR1 in 2026: Emeka Egbuka.

ESPN’s Seth Walder writes, “He came out of the gates flying last season as a rookie but cooled off immensely down the stretch. Which version will the Buccaneers get in 2026? With Mike Evans gone and Chris Godwin Jr. now 30 years old, they’ll need early-season Egbuka to come through. One number that has me a little concerned — Egbuka posted just a 36 open score last season, which ranked 104th out of 110 wide receivers.”

Egbuka came out of the gates showing a lot of promise, but as the offense fell apart, so did his season. If the team plays well on offense in 2026, it will be because Egbuka broke through the glass ceiling.
