Former Florida baseball star right-handed pitcher Logan Shore will be inducted into the UF Athletic Hall of Fame as a member of the 2026 class in October, enshrining him among 29 other “Gator Greats” who excelled on the collegiate clay diamond.
Shore made an immediate impact on the baseball program upon his arrival in Gainesville, anchoring the Gators’ pitching staff during one of their most successful runs in school history. He was a steady presence in the rotation fueled by a competitive fire and served as the Friday night starter during all three seasons of his tenure from 2014-16.
The 6-foot-2-inch native of Coon Rapids, Minnesota, was among the nation’s top pitchers during his freshman campaign in 2014, earning Louisville Slugger and NCBWA Freshman All-America honors while also being named SEC Freshman of the Year and earning a spot on the All-SEC First Team. He finished that season with a 7-4 record along with what would turn out to be a career-low 2.16 ERA — plus 68 strikeouts to 20 walks over 95 2/3 innings of work.
During his sophomore season, Shore amassed an 11-6 record with a 2.72 ERA across a career-high 112 1/3 frames and became the first pitcher in school history to earn two victories in a single College World Series. His 11 wins matched a program best set by Hudson Randall in 2011.
He cemented his status as one of college baseball’s elite arms in 2016 with a jaw-dropping 12-1 record — which set a new record for wins in a season — along with a 2.31 ERA, a .215 batting average against and a 96-to-19 strikeout-to-walk ratio over 105 1/3 innings. He earned 2016 SEC Pitcher of the Year honors and was named First Team All-SEC for the second time in his career for his efforts that spring.
Over the course of his career at Florida, Shore proved to be one of the best to ever climb the mound for the Orange and Blue. He finished ranked second in program history with 30 victories and seventh with 248 strikeouts — just behind teammate A.J. Puk — along with a 2.41 ERA, .231 batting average against and 313 1/3 innings pitched over 53 games.
Shore was taken in the second round of the 2016 MLB Draft by the Oakland Athletics with the 47th overall pick. He never made it to the major league level, spending time in the minor leagues with the A’s and Detroit Tigers, as well as one game with the San Francisco Giants’ rookie–level team, before hanging up his cleats in 2023.
