For the second straight Saturday, Spec Martin Stadium in DeLand will host a big-time all-star football game.
Last week, the Under Armour Next All-America Game pointed a spotlight at some of the nation’s top high school talent. Now, on Jan. 10, college seniors will take their turns in the Hula Bowl. Kickoff is slated for noon.
The showcase is celebrating the 80th anniversary of its inception. More than 90 players will suit up this year, the first iteration in DeLand. From 2022 to 2025, the event was hosted by UCF’s Acrisure Bounce House. Before that, it lived at Honolulu Stadium, War Memorial Stadium and Aloha Stadium in Hawaii.

The coaches will be the biggest stars in the 2025 game. Brothers and longtime NFL coaches Jon and Jay Gruden will lead Team Kai and Team Aina, respectively. Also joining Jon’s Team Kai staff are longtime NFL head coach John Fox (defensive coordinator), former Florida leader Ron Zook (defensive backs) and former Jacksonville Jaguars head man Jack Del Rio (linebackers).
As for the players, two quarterbacks headline the group: former BYU and Tulane signal-caller Jake Retzlaff and former Virginia Tech standout Kyron Drones. They’ll look to shine in front of professional scouts.
