On April 16, Walmart announced plans to remodel 58 stores in Florida this year — and five of those locations are right here in Volusia County.
Local Walmart fans (and those statewide) can look forward to what the chain is calling a “modernization” of its “in-store and digital shopping experience.”
The promised layout, technology and service upgrades aim to give customers “faster” and “more convenient” shopping experiences, according to a press release from the company.
At the national level, “Walmart is planning remodels at more than 650 Supercenters and Neighborhood Markets this year,” the company added.

The company’s plans to remodel stores in Florida include updating layouts to decrease shopping times, and expanding pharmacy and other services.
These updates include “free pharmacy delivery for Walmart+ members, including on GLP-1s (weight loss medications) – and a store-based app experience that helps customers easily navigate through stores, book services at Walmart’s Auto Care Center, and more,” according to the press release.
Vision centers will also offer free cleanings and adjustments.
The upgrades aim “to offer faster, more convenient shopping and delivery in as little as an hour for most customers.”
