The Miami Hurricanes lost to rival Florida and now need to win two games today, including a rematch against the Gators, to stay alive in the 2026 NCAA baseball tournament.
UM went down 22-10 in the double-elimination Gainesville Regional. The Hurricanes committed four errors and then the Gators smashed five home runs in the eighth inning to pound Miami and push them to the brink of elimination.
The Canes will get another shot at UF tonight if they can first win an elimination game this afternoon against Troy. Miami opened the tournament with a 10-5 win over Troy when they broke a tie with a five-run eighth inning that featured an RBI single by Alonzo Alvarez and a two-run knock by Brandon DeGoti.

If they take out Troy, Miami will face the Gators a few hours later. A win in the nightcap would force a winner-take-all game Monday, June 1 to determine the regional champion. From there, they would advance to the super regionals against the winner of the Hattiesburg Regional.

The NCAA tournament game between Miami and Troy will be broadcast on either ESPN, ESPN2 or ACC Network. Games on ESPN+ can be streamed on the ESPN app with a subscription to the Select plan ($12.99 per month). Eric Frede and Lance Cormier will announce the game from the booth.

First pitch for the Hurricanes and Trojans will likely be scheduled for 1 p.m. ET at Condron Family Ballpark in Gainesville, Florida. In regional play, the next day’s games can not begin within 12 hours of the final out of the previous day. The Miami-Florida game ended Saturday night at 12:50 a.m. Eastern.
