Vote for the Gainesville-area high school sports Athlete of the Week for October 15-20

The high school sports season is rapidly unfolding, which means it’s time once again for everyone’s favorite part of the week: The Gainesville Sun’s Athlete of the Week Poll.

Our nomination process is a little different this season. Please click here to see how to nominate. Nominations are due Monday morning, and they can be sent in by anyone — coaches, administrators, friends, family. It is imperative to send in nominations, so we can continue to honor the best! 51 assists, 20 digs and 7 kills as the Eagles beat Destin and St. Francis to punch their improbable ticket to the Class 2A playoffs.

Karlee Noah, Santa Fe volleyball

15 digs in the Raiders’ 3-0 district championship win over Crystal River.

Kinsley Harvey, Newberry volleyball

33 assists in the Panthers’ 3-0 district championship win over Keystone Heights.

Matt Goodale, Chiefland football

10-11 passing for 207 yards and four touchdowns in the Indians’ 42-7 win over Keystone Heights.

Mylie Fernandez, Branford volleyball

47 assists in the Bucs’ 3-1 district championship win over Union County.

Taylor Sembower, Buchholz volleyball

18 kills, 14 digs, 30 serve receives against 24-3 Fletcher in Bobcats’ first district title win since 2019.

Tywan K Williamson, Lafayette football

182 yards passing and 61 rushing yards with three total touchdowns in the Hornets’ 47-6 win over Trenton.
