Daytona Beach police said Martin Jr., who has been convicted of 12 prior felonies, was on misdemeanor probation for simple battery at the time of the shooting.

He was additionally charged with probation violation, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, trafficking in methamphetamines, unlawful use of a two-way communication device, and renting a structure/vehicle known to sell drugs. He was in jail May 21 without bail.

Daytona Beach police noted in an arrest report filed with the court that Martin Jr., shot and critically wounded Anthony Lee III, who was transported to Halifax Health Medical Center where police said he remains in critical condition.

Daytona funeral home’s surveillance camera captured shooting, police say

Daytona Beach police said the shooting occurred in the 800 block of Dr. Mary McLeod Bethune Boulevard at 12:35 p.m. May 13.

The shooting occurred near a funeral home and the business’s surveillance camera captured the shooting, police said.

In the video recording, Daytona Beach police said they saw Lee talking to three other men when Martin Jr. showed up, court records state.

Martin Jr. walks up to Lee and pulls out a gun from his hoodie causing the victim to cower, police said.

Martin Jr. was seen trying to hit Lee with the firearm and then shoots the gun, striking the victim in the head, the police report states.

Martin Jr. then ran from the scene, police said.

A witness identified Martin Jr. as the shooter in a photo lineup, police said.
