Week 6 of the 2025 college football campaign brings us the Florida Gators taking on the Texas Longhorns inside Ben Hill Griffin Stadium for an early October Southeastern Conference battle.
Heading into the matchup, the US LBM Coaches Poll’s seventh-ranked Longhorns hold the edge on the unranked and voteless Gators by 5.5 points according to BetMGM. They are also projected to win by 9.9 points according to ESPN’s SP+, while the FPI favors the visitors as well by 7.8 points.
So while it appears that Texas has the upper hand in Gainesville on Saturday, USA TODAY Sports writer Matt Hayes sees things a little differently, predicting a much-needed upset for the Orange and Blue.
“The hottest of hot seats may belong to Billy Napier, but it’s about to get cooler,” Hayes begins. “The Florida coach always seems to perform best with his back up against the wall, and this week’s matchup against No. 7 Texas with his team (at) 1-3 qualifies. The Longhorns, meanwhile, might be looking ahead to next week’s showdown with Oklahoma.
“Expect the home crowd to be a factor and a strong defense that harasses Arch Maning to be pivotal as Florida gets to celebrate a big win,” he concludes.
Will this end up being a trap game for the visitors? Here is when to tune in and find out.
