Two PCB fires this week impact a home and a business

PANAMA CITY BEACH – Two fires affected a home and a business in Panama City Beach this week.

A small debris fire broke out behind Pieces on the Beach, an antique store at 2505 Thomas Drive. The fire was contained, and the store confirmed in a Facebook post that it will be open at regular hours.

Separately, a family home was lost to a fire at 217 Lakeview Circle in Panama City Beach on Jan. 20. The Panama City Beach Fire Rescue received the call at 8:56 p.m. and was on the scene by 9:03 p.m.

Six units and 15 personnel responded.

PCBFR believes the fire was started by a candle, and says that the home was occupied at the time the blaze broke out. One female patient was treated for burns, with a trauma alert going out due to the severity of her injuries.

The rest of the family was able to evacuate without injury. Firefighters rescued five dogs and a possum. One cat died in the fire.

Family members have relocated within the area as the home sustained major damage and is uninhabitable.
