DELTA TWP. — Great Lakes Coca-Cola Distribution issued notice this week that it will lay off 62 workers and reassign 99 others, according to the Jan. 14 Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) notice.
Employees, including 30 CDL drivers and 23 warehouse workers, are expected to be laid off April 3, 80 days from the Jan. 14 notice.
Additionally, the company, 3300 South Creyts Road, will reassign 99 employees, including 41 merchandisers and 19 sales account managers.
The WARN notice does not say what will become of the Lansing-area location or where the reassigned employees will work.
“At Reyes Coca-Cola Bottling, we regularly assess our operations to ensure we are positioned for long-term, sustainable growth,” a Reyes Coca-Cola Bottling spokesperson wrote in an email to the Free Press. “As part of this process, we recently consolidated our Lansing facility into our nearby Michigan locations. This strategic decision will allow us to better serve our customers and consumers. As with any important update to our business, this change was shared with employees.”
The company, a subsidiary of Reyes Holdings signed a definitive agreement with The Coca-Cola Company in 2014, granting territories of the greater Chicago area to create a stronger U.S. business model, a press release says.
Financial terms were not disclosed at the time.
