Tallahassee police are investigating a pre-dawn Easter morning homicide after a man was shot and killed early Sunday inside a popular Tallahassee pool hall.
Officers responded to the 1100 block of Apalachee Parkway at about 1:31 a.m. following reports of a shooting, according to the Tallahassee Police Department.
A TPD watch commander told the Democrat that the shooting happened inside Zingales Billiards and Sports Bar.
When officers arrived, they found an adult man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
Life‑saving measures were attempted, and the victim was transported to a local hospital, where he later died from his injuries, police said.
“Preliminary findings indicate the shooting occurred during a large physical altercation,” the agency wrote in an incident alert posted to Facebook. “Currently, there is no known ongoing threat to the public.”
Video posted to social media shows a chaotic scene the moments after officers arrived.
First responders appear to be trying to render aid to the victim in the doorway as a large crowd gathers in the parking lot outside. Officers appear to be taking a man on the ground into custody as shouts of “get back” can be heard while patrons mix with a large contingent of TPD officers and emergency vehicles. Two people can be heard laughing.
The incident remains an “open and active investigation.” No additional details about the victim or possible suspects were immediately released.
Detectives are asking anyone who witnessed the incident but did not speak with officers at the scene to contact the Tallahassee Police Department at 850‑891‑4200. Tips can also be submitted anonymously through Crime Solvers at 850‑574‑8477.
This marks the 19th serious shooting in the capital city and county this year. So far in 2026, seven people have been killed and at least 14 people have been injured, according to a Tallahassee Democrat analysis of gun violence.
