A “potential security threat” at Miami International Airport prompted temporary evacuations shortly after 8 a.m. Monday, May 25, the airport shared in a social media travel advisory on Memorial Day.
MIA said it was working with Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office regarding the potential threat at the airport and that parts of the north and central terminals before the security checkpoints were temporarily evacuated “out of an abundance of caution.”
The situation impacted traffic flow entering the airport, as well as delays on the arrivals and departures levels, according to MIA.
By 8:24 a.m., the airport announced that it was given the all clear and that operations were to return to normal. However, delays, including at the TSA checkpoints of the evacuated terminals, may persist.
