Stop America’s war on immigrants

Cruel, inhumane, shortsighted and just plain wrong. I’m ashamed of the low level to which our great nation has fallen. Whatever happened to “Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, the wretched refuse of your teeming shore. Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me”? Let’s remember that we are a nation of immigrants.

Social Security is running out of money and working immigrants contribute to the system, often without being able to collect benefits themselves. The president tells us to have more children, but what about immigrant children? What crime, other than being in the wrong place at the wrong time, did Olga Perez commit? Four citizen children are now without a parent. That is cruel and unjust. What happens next time the police or courts need a translator? Need a landscaper, caregiver, nurse or construction worker? Look around. Who is going to fill those jobs when we purge the state and nation of immigrants? A country that relies on immigrants should not treat them with cruelty when they are serving families, communities and the public good.

Send Trump performing arts center bill

President Donald Trump and his sycophantic board of trustees of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts ordered the renaming of the venue in violation of statutes. A federal judge determined that it was an illegitimate action and the entire renaming must be reversed. The cost of the installation, removal and repair of the wall and other actions should be paid by the president and the members of the board of trustees. Their act is comparable to graffiti or vandalism. And just like any other offender, they should be required to pay for the restitution of the wall. The American taxpayers should not be paying for illegal vanity projects.

Vote for competent candidates in 2026

To use a Bridge term, our president has been trumped and set by the savvy Iranians. They seem to have had multiple moves if we attacked [and we had] no apparent plan on how to counter their ability to close the Strait of Hormuz and fire drones and missiles after our “end all bombing of air, missiles” destroyed all of Iran. Under the alleged agreement now underway, we are worse off than we were under the previous treaty broken by Trump, who called it a “giveaway.” Now we have less, and in fact we are worse off with Iran. Please look at all of Trump’s blunders and elect people of any party who have the backbone to bring us back to a three-branch government and rational thought.
