Southwest Airlines adding more Florida routes in major expansion

Starting to think about Spring Break 2027? Southwest Airlines is beefing up its Florida presence with a record number of departures at Orlando International Airport starting next March.

The Dallas, Texas-based carrier announced a major expansion for next spring, with 19 new routes and several expanded ones. The new Florida routes connect Orlando to both New York (three times daily) and Pensacola (once a day), and Las Vegas to Miami, according to a July 16 release. Other routes connect travelers to “beaches, mountains, and everywhere in between,” Southwest said.

With the new routes, Southwest departures at Orlando will reach a record-high of 214 on Saturdays, the release said. Southwest is also increasing service in Las Vegas, Nevada; Austin, Texas; Nashville, Tennessee; San Diego, California; and adding more routes for Hawaii and the Caribbean islands.
