Jason Little and Michael Haynes combined for 12 hits to lead Reissue in a 40-26 win over Hooters in the championship game of the city of Destin’s Upper Division Coed Softball Tournament May 7 at Morgan Sports Center.
Little and Haynes each smacked a grand slam, a double and four singles each for combined total of 16 RBIs.
The first couple of innings were close, with Reissue on top 9-7 at the end of two.
In the third, Reissue pulled away 16-12 and then scored nine in the top of the fourth to go up 25-12. Hooters answered in the bottom half with five runs.
In the fifth, Reissue scored four and Hooters closed the gap for a 29-25 game.
In the bottom of the sixth, Hooters picked up one more run for a 29-26 game.
Reissue rallied the bats in the top of the seventh and blew the game open with 11 runs. Hooters went scoreless in the bottom half.
In addition to Little and Haynes, Darian Bahera doubled and hit three singles for two RBIs for Reissue. Justin Martinez and Bran Williams each slapped a home run.
Top batter for Hooters was Drew Graham with three home runs and a double for nine RBIs. Hunter Sullivan hit a home run and three singles for three RBIs, and Diana Sarabia hit three singles for two RBIs.
Earlier in the evening, Hooters beat Destin Commons 18-2.
Hooters jumped out to a 10-0 lead in the first two innings.
Destin Commons got on the scoreboard with one run in the top of the third. Hooters answered with six runs.
In the fourth, Destin Commons picked up one more run. Hooters came back with two runs for a run-ruling on the game.
Rob Carrizales led Hooters with a home run and two doubles for four RBIs. Lenny Matos slapped a home run and a double for two RBIs, and Jen Phillips singled for two RBIs. Drew Graham hit a home run.
Jen Robbins led Destin Commons with a double and a single. Michael Robbins doubled for an RBI, and Ryan Grantham singled.
