Freezers are emptied and a line of carts filled to the brim with unsealed items ready to meet the garbage cans fill the aisle inside the Walmart Supercenter on 5500 Thomasville Road on April 7.
According to a post in the Facebook group Living Tallahassee, a similar refrigeration failure occurred on March 10, making this the second time in less than a month that the store’s refrigerators have failed.
An employee told a shopper when they visited that the refrigerators went out late April 6.
As a result, Walmart employees were seen by a Tallahassee Democrat reporter wheeling carts filled with perishable items like hot dogs, eggs, cottage cheese, poultry and other refrigerated goods to the dumpsters in the back of store and discarding them.
Despite the refrigerator outage, normal operations are continuing. Shoppers can still grab clothing and other home goods the store offers, as well as freezer items.
However, you may notice there is caution tape sectioning off bagged salads and vegetables. There’s also this alarm that goes off every few minutes as of Tuesday afternoon, but the sounds of pop tunes and customer chatter can still be heard throughout the store.
Representatives from Walmart’s corporate offices could not be immediately reached for comment.
