A person was hit and killed by a Brightline passenger train on June 21 in Vero Beach, Indian River County Fire Rescue officials said.
Fire Rescue crews got a report about 6:40 p.m. June 21 of a train versus a pedestrian just south of 1000 16th Street, Assistant Fire Chief Steve Greer told TCPalm on the morning of June 22.

Crews were on their way when they were canceled by Vero Beach police officials because the person struck had died, Greer said.
Vero Beach police Officer Kelsea Marty told TCPalm the incident was a suicide involving a Brightline train.
She declined to release any more information, including the person’s gender, age or how officials determined it was a suicide.
