Cheers echoed in the Palm Beach Day Academy gym when eager family and friends celebrated the 48 eighth-graders graduating from historic educational institution on the island.
As is tradition, the class of 2026 gathered June 5 outside the Upper School at 241 Seaview Ave. for a class photo. The girls sported white dresses and held onto white roses, while the boys wore white pants, blue-and-gold striped ties and blue jackets with a rose pinned on the lapel.
Following the photos, students — along with a sea of family and friends — filled the auditorium for the ceremony marking the educational milestone. Math teacher and eighth-grade advisor Elizabeth Sellers delivered the keynote speech, followed by remarks by Fanning Hearon, the academy’s head of school.
“The Class of 2026 is full of scholars and artists and athletes, and I am convinced that there will be many students in this group who will grow up to be prominent leaders in their professional lives and committed public servants in their local communities,” Hearon told the audience. “It is simply that kind of class, extremely diverse in its talent and ambition, and ultimately destined for greatness.”
“Thank you for living up to our core values and being respectful and responsible citizens who will be models of integrity in high school, college, and life,” he told the students.
Founded in 1921, the private school serves preschool students through eighth-graders and has a additional campus in West Palm Beach.
