Empowering U.S. military veterans “to find peace, purpose and camaraderie in the wilderness” has been part of a Volusia County-based nonprofit’s mission for three years.
Recharge for Vets, founded in 2023, provides opportunities for veterans “to recharge and reconnect with nature through scuba diving, fishing and hunting trips.”
The nonprofit offers guided programs for those outdoor activities, including specialized programs to disabled veterans.
“Through our nonprofit organization, we strive to express our gratitude for their sacrifices and ensure that our veterans experience the revitalizing benefits of outdoor adventures as they transition back to civilian life,” the organization’s website says.
Through its website, Recharge for Vets invites veterans to apply for the programs or nominate someone else. Veterans also have the option to request donated items, such as cleaning products, bedding, house furnishings, hygiene items and more.
