NFL mock draft: Projecting all 11 Miami Dolphins picks | Schad

Miami Dolphins general manager Jon-Eric Sullivan has a whopping 11 picks entering the upcoming NFL Draft, which is April 23-25 in Pittsburgh.

Coach Jeff Hafley recently spoke with local reporters as the Dolphins’ offseason activities program began. He’s looking forward to adding players.

“The best players, the toughest players, the guys with the highest character, I think those are all the things that aren’t going to change,” Hafley said. “We want guys that love football. We want guys that play football the right way and we want to draft really good players too.”

The Dolphins have so many needs it should be quite easy to follow Sullivan’s preferred best-available player preference. Of course, Miami is likely to draft at least one player at wide receiver, cornerback, guard, edge rusher and safety.

Here’s our best second swing at a seven-round Dolphins draft:

Who will the Dolphins draft in first round?

In this mock draft, the Dolphins select highly-touted Ohio State safety Caleb Downs, who somehow slips.

In five previous mock drafts, our Joe Schad has selected:

Mock 1.0: CB Mansoor Delane, LSU

Mock 2.0: CB Jermod McCoy, Tennessee

7-round mock draft 1.0: CB Mansoor Delane, LSU

3-round mock draft: CB Mansoor Delane, LSU

Mock 3.0: OT/G Francis Mauigoa, Miami

Dolphins mock draft

1st Round (No. 11)

Caleb Downs, Ohio State, S

We passed on Tennessee CB Jermod McCoy here, believing Downs can be a versatile, high-impact, high-ceiling chess piece in Jeff Hafley’s defense.

1st Round (No. 30)

KC Concepcion, Texas A&M, WR

Concepcion compares his game to Jaylen Waddle and here, he’ll replace him.

2nd Round (No. 43)

Blake Miller, Clemson, OT

Miller can be Miami’s future right tackle and perhaps play guard as a rookie.

3rd Round (No. 75)

Derrick Moore, Michigan, Edge

Moore, 6-foot-4, 255 pounds, can give Miami the pressures they need opposite Chop Robinson.

3rd Round (No. 87)

Malik Muhammad, Texas, CB

Muhammad is scheme-versatile, fluid and decisive.

3rd Round (No. 90)

Malachi Fields, Notre Dame, WR

Size! Fields is 6-foot-4 1/2 and can use his size, strength and ball skills to win.

3rd Round (No. 94)

Justin Joly, NC State, TE

Joly is 6-foot-3 1/2 and is a dangerous route-runner and receiving threat.

4th Round (130)

Drew Allar, Penn State, QB

Allar has the size and arm-strength to make ‘wow’ plays. Inconsistent, but worth a flier here.

5th Round (151)

Trey Zuhn, Texas A&M, G/T

Zuhn played tackle in college but should be able to compete as an NFL guard.

7th Round (227)

Jakobe Thomas, Miami, S

Potential as a depth safety and special teamer.

7th Round (238)

Fernando Carmona, Arkansas, G

Potential depth on the interior.
