A top free agent pass rusher no longer available for Jaguars

If the Jacksonville Jaguars have any interest in adding to their pass rush unit, one of the top free agent options is no longer available.

Veteran defensive end Cameron Jordan is reportedly re-signing with the New Orleans Saints.

Jordan was one of Matt Bowen’s top 15 available free agents following minicamp. There are a few other notable edge rushers still on the market.

Whether or not GM James Gladstone has any interest in adding to the defensive end position remains to be seen, but it’s a move that could at least be on his radar.

With Josh Hines-Allen and Travon Walker leading the way, it’s not as if the Jaguars are hurting at this position group. That said, bringing in a veteran to compete for rotational snaps wouldn’t be a bad idea.

Over the course of an NFL game, four or sometimes even five edge rushers can see playing time. Currently competing for those rotational snaps are rookies Wesley Williams and Zach Durfee, along with second-year players and former UDFAs BJ Green and Danny Striggow.

It’s an inexperienced group, and with that comes uncertainty.

As good as the Jaguars defense was last season, one area of improvement is in their ability to get after the quarterback consistently. Last season, the Jaguars ranked a modest 18th in pressure rate in 2025 and 27th in sacks.

The Jaguars do not have an abundance of salary cap space, but it’s not as if an addition at this stage of the offseason will break the bank either.
