The 12-team Little League Softball World Series has been whittled down to eight. And it’s tough picking out a team that’s played better than the girls from Lake Mary, Florida.
The global tournament’s first elimination games were played Aug. 4 with two more on the schedule Aug. 5. Lake Mary won’t have to worry about any of that, considering they won their first two games by a combined score of 29-0 in just seven total innings (the typical Little League softball game lasts six innings). If their current run continues, there could be another trophy coming back to Seminole County to place alongside the one the Lake Mary baseball team won in 2024.
Florida is one of three teams that went 2-0 to start the 2026 LLSWS. One other won its first two games in abbreviated fashion by the run rule: Owensboro, Kentucky, who allowed just one run in both of their four-inning victories for a total score of 26-2. Florida and Kentucky are in separate brackets, putting them on a potential collision course for the championship Aug. 10.

First, though, Lake Mary has to take on Clayton, North Carolina, who won two games in one day with one matchup shortened by the run rule. Florida shouldn’t worry if they lose; the loser gets another chance to continue their tournament against either Snohomish, Washington or Repentigny, Quebec.
