Mama Lattes opens long-awaited Stewart Street drive-through location

Milton’s first local coffee shop, Mama Lattes, is making it easier to grab one of their signature lattes or a Lotus plant-based energy drink on the go with their new drive-through location, now open at 5812 Stewart St.

Their first location, a sit-down café with food options on the menu, is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year, and owners Chris Baker and China Holcombe are filled with gratitude that customers continue to support them/ They hope the drive-through option will make accessing their fan-favorite beverages even easier.

“Customers have come in with their kids, came in with their pajamas on, they came in when they weren’t feeling good, they stuck with us in the rain. They just helped us grow to the time that we’re in right now,” Baker said. “We are super excited about that opportunity.”

Santa Rosa County has seen a surge in the past few years of larger coffee franchises and chains moving into the area, but their customer base has remained steady, with baristas still making customers’ orders from memory.

“With the support of our community, we’re still able to thrive,” Baker said.

As local business owners, they continue pouring into other area businesses as well, even collaborating with several of them during their first week of business, including Milton Quality Bakery for doughnuts and Scoops Ice Cream to make creamy affogatos.

“We want to work with local, we want to make sure we’re supporting our local community as well,” Baker said. “We call our coffee shop locally owned, but community driven.”

The drive-through Mama Lattes location will focus primarily on beverages and pastries, such as their signature lattes like Apple Pie, Dark Angel, and Dirty Chai made from locally roasted beans. Their café will remain the hub for larger meals and evening events, which they plan to expand further.

“We think they both will complement each other,” Baker said.

They also have a location inside the Cotton Country Café in Chumuckla, but it is on hiatus for the summer and will resume operations when school starts.

The two celebrated their drive-through ribbon-cutting with the city of Milton on Friday morning, and the support from the community was palpable. To Holcombe, it felt especially good to see the city proud of something they had been working on for over a year.

They hope to continue serving the Milton community, one coffee at a time.

Mama Lattes’ drive-through location is currently open from 6:30 a.m. to noon on Monday through Friday, with extended hours on Saturday from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m.

While a date has yet to be set, follow Mama Lattes on social media for word on when their 10th anniversary celebration will be held at their flagship café.
