Florida football’s defense suffered two in-game injuries. Late in the third quarter, the offense joined in the misery.
Wide receiver J. Michael Sturdivant was taken to the locker room after a hard hit from two Miami defenders. Sturdivant caught a critical fourth-down pass from DJ Lagway and was immediately brought down by two Hurricanes.
After getting up, Sturdivant sat back down on the field. When he got up, team staff took him to the locker room for evaluation. The 5-yard grab was his first catch of the game.
The redshirt senior and UCLA transfer has eight catches for 76 yards in his first three games as a Gator. Florida is down in wide receiver depth due to a leg injury from five-star freshman Dallas Wilson Jr.
The Gators already dealt with injuries to DBs Aaron Gates and Dijon Johnson during the game. Miami leads Florida 13-7 in the fourth quarter.
