The Miami Dolphins made massive changes this offseason, including in their quarterback room, as they moved on from former first-round pick Tua Tagovailoa and brought in Malik Willis to take his place.
While Willis is expected to be the team’s starter after signing a three-year, $67.5 million contract this offseason, the Dolphins need to continue looking at other options to find consistency at the most important position on the field.
One option that’s expected to become available for the Dolphins to consider is Brendan Sorsby, who is reportedly applying to enter the NFL Supplemental Draft.
This is a bit of a change of plans for Sorsby, who had his temporary injunction granted by a Texas judge earlier in this month which would’ve allowed him to play for Texas Tech.
Sorsby was originally ineligible after an investigation into his gambling gambling addiction, which resulted in the quarterback betting on some of his own games.
If a team is interested in Sorsby, they could use a pick in the 2026 NFL Supplemental Draft and give up that same pick in the 2027 NFL draft. For example, if Miami is willing to use a third-round pick on him in the supplemental draft, they’ll lose their third-round pick in 2027.
The 22-year-old spent two years at Indiana and two more at Cincinnati, completing 61.4% of his passes for 7,208 yards, 60 touchdowns and 18 interceptions and rushing for an additional 1,305 yards and 22 scores between the two schools.
