While FSU enjoyed a great couple of days on the recruiting trail to start the week, that came to a halt on Wednesday when three-star interior offensive lineman JJ Sparks committed to the Miami Hurricanes over the Seminoles.
“First and foremost I want to thank God for blessing me with this opportunity. To my family for their love and support. To my coaches thank you for pushing me to be the best version of myself on and off the field. After much prayer and consideration I’m proud to announce my commitment to the University of Miami,” he wrote on social media.
Sparks has taken several visits to FSU this year and was recently at spring practice. He has an official visit scheduled with the Seminoles but offensive line coach Herb Hand will likely have to battle to get him in town after his commitment to Miami
He is the No. 805 overall player and No. 71 interior offensive lineman in the 247Sports composite rankings. The Jacksonville product is also the No. 108 player from Florida.
While FSU has several other targets along the offensive line, losing out on Sparks stings, especially with him committing to Miami.
