FSU has gotten a plethora of commits to shut down their recruitment

Florida State is certainly putting its fingerprint on the 2027 recruiting class as of late. In the month of June, they’ve gotten eight commitments in the cycle, with the latest being four-star defensive lineman Sam LeJeune on Wednesday.

This is the type of roll that FSU needed to get on. However, something even more important is going on when it comes to recruiting for the Seminoles. Players aren’t just committing, they’re shutting down their recruitments.

At the end of May, four-star edge Anthony Cavallaro shut down his commitment, and then he doubled down on it Wednesday night. Speaking of Wednesday, Florida State saw a couple more recruits shut theirs down also.

Top-ranked wide receiver, four-star Sean Green, made it known that he was locked in with the Seminoles, and then three-star linebacker CJ Ohuabunwa shut his recruitment down as well. It continued on Thursday with three-star quarterback Logan Flaherty announcing that his recruitment was closed.

With the state of FSU’s program after just seven wins in two years and head coach Mike Norvell being on the hot seat, the fact that nearly half of their 2027 class has already shut down their recruitments is a huge accomplishment. It’s clear that they have bought into the vision that Norvell and his staff have for the future, which could lead to more recruits doing the same.

Of course, nothing matters until names are signed on the dotted line. It’s still an extremely encouraging sign for Florida State as they look to get back to being one of the top programs at acquiring talent on the high school level.
