FSU continues working to flip blue-chip Syracuse edge

Florida State has one of the top defensive linemen in the 2026 class in four-star Earnest Rankins and several other commitments in the trenches. However, they’re still searching for an edge prospect to land, and four-star Syracuse commit Kamron Wilson is one of the top players they want to bring to Tallahassee.

The Seminoles have stayed in close contact with Wilson despite him canceling a visit back in June. When he was on campus, FSU did an excellent job of impressing the 6-foot-5, 215-pounder.

“They did a great job with sending me an official offer letter,” Wilson said per Rivals. “It was kind of crazy because I opened it up, and it played the fight song. I’m not going to lie, it impressed my mom. Coach Knight and Coach Norvell are still trying to keep in touch with me. They are showing me that they are still in this process and want me there.”

A huge reason for Florida State remaining in the mix for Wilson is his relationship with defensive line coach Terrance Knighton.

“That’s my guy right there,” Wilson told Noles247 about Knighton after his visit in March. “That’s my dawg. We have a tight relationship. He can be straight with me. Today, he showed me what his guys go through and the standard that they have. Just showing me all of the stuff that they do. They had me in a meeting about how they run the defense, and how they would use me at the JACK with the D-line group on every down. Using me as a JACK in the pass rush.”

Wilson is the No. 398 player nationally and the No. 44 edge according to Rivals industry rankings. He’s the No. 57 prospect from the state of Florida.

The ideal move for Florida State now is to set up an in-season visit with Wilson at some point.
