Florida State had two of the biggest flips in June

The month of June was heaven-sent for Florida State. They landed 12 commitments and positioned themselves to challenge for a top 10 class once it’s all said and done.

During their hot streak, the Seminoles ended up flipping several commitments as well. Keegan Pope of Rivals listed the 10 biggest flips of June earlier this week. FSU was one of two schools, along with the Georgia Bulldogs, that had two players make the list. For the Seminoles, it was four-star quarterback Jaden O’Neal and four-star wide receiver Devin Carter.

“It’s hard to overstate how badly Mike Norvell and Co. need a strong 2026 class after their struggles on the field last fall. They closed out the 2025 cycle with some huge lands, and look to be keeping that momentum going into this year. At the heart of that was landing a quarterback for this class, and the ‘Noles struck out on a handful of them early on before landing on former Oklahoma commit Jaden O’Neal as their guy.”

Once the Oklahoma Sooners keyed in on four-star quarterback Bowe Bentley, the writing was on the wall that O’Neal would be heading elsewhere. He took multiple visits to Tallahassee before ultimately committing on June 22. O’Neal still has things to improve on, but he’s a very good prospect that can be molded under the right coaching staff.

“Carter is an FSU legacy and the son of former ‘Noles star running back Dexter Carter. He was an early pledge to Mike Norvell, but backed off that and eventually committed to Auburn. But FSU continued to pursue him, and he never stopped listening. The buzz around him flipping existed for months.”

This was a big one. Florida State lost several blue-chip wide receivers in their 2025 class due to a terrible season a year ago. He didn’t waste any time making an impact as a Seminole as he put in a show at the OT7 Finals in South Florida last weekend. With four-star prospects Brandon Bennett and Jasen Lopez also committed, FSU has a trio of receivers that have tremendous potential.

Florida has already landed four-star defensive lineman Earnest Rankins for 2026 and three-star tight end Connor Winn for the 2027 cycle in July. That could be a sign of another big month for them in recruiting.
