Florida again ranked 50th in the nation for average teacher pay, providing a backdrop for Sarasota County salary figures.
A new National Education Association report shows Florida placed next-to-last out of all U.S. states and Washington, D.C., for the third straight year, with average public school teacher pay at $56,663.
“In most places, even when educators win modest increases, pay is not keeping up with soaring inflation, the report states. “Low pay limits the ability to attract and retain quality educators in the profession.”
