The Florida Gators have lost their first player to the transfer portal. Sophomore pitcher McCall Biemiller announced Monday that he had entered the portal on social media.
“I would like to thank my coaches, teammates, and the University of Florida for the opportunity to be a Gator. I have officially entered the transfer portal with 2 years of eligibility left. I am excited for what the future holds and looking forward to my next opportunity,” he wrote.
Biemiller spent two seasons with the Gators, seeing his workload decrease in 2026. He made just one appearance as a sophomore, walking one batter and hitting another against the Alabama Crimson Tide. He will have two seasons of eligibility at his next school. The transfer portal officially opened on June 1 and will be open until July 1.
The Tampa, Florida native appeared in 11 games as a freshman in 2025, making one start. He finished the year with a 1-0 record and a 5.93 ERA in 13 2/3 innings pitched. Opponents hit .224 off him, drawing 17 walks and striking out 18 times.
Florida’s 2026 season is still ongoing, with the Gators playing the Troy Trojans in the Gainesville Regional championship game on Monday. It is a do-or-die game, with the winner advancing to the Super Regionals, where they will play the Little Rock Trojans. The game is set to start at 6 p.m. ET and will be broadcast on ESPN+
