Drivers asked to avoid DeLand road after water main break

A water main break in DeLand on April 13 caused a large hole open up at State Road 15A and Euclid Avenue, according to city spokeswoman, Sarah Lux.

“Early this morning while boring to lay fiber optic cable in the area, an outside contractor (not with the city/completing work for the city) bore through a large water main,” Lux stated in a news release.

The road has “significant damage” caused by water and will likely take several days to repair. City of DeLand crews have been at the scene since this morning, April 13, working on the repairs.

Officials are asking drivers to avoid the area for a few days during repairs.
