SHEBOYGAN – Sargento Foods recently released another snack pack option, this time to be enjoyed by kids during lunch or on-the-go snacking.
The cheese manufacturer’s Mighty Bites feature a variety of Sargento cheese, meat, mini crackers and sweet treats. The snack kits add to the company’s snack offerings, including Balanced Breaks and shareable cheese-and-cracker packs.
Erin Price, general manager of consumer products at Sargento, said customers like convenient snacking, but the company learned they weren’t always satisfied with the quality of ingredients in other snack kits at the grocery store.
Price said the Mighty Bites — with more natural cheese and meat options and 12 to 14 grams of protein per package — give parents something they can feel good about feeding their kids.
Among the varieties, customers can pair salami with cheddar cheese and Ritz crackers as well as pepperoni with mozzarella and mini Wheat Thins. Sweet treats feature gummy bears, chocolate-covered pretzels and more.
“We made sure that this is something that kids are really excited about eating as well,” she said.
Rod Hogan, senior vice president of New Platform Development at Sargento, said development of the Mighty Bites was two to three years in the making, driven by consumer insights and snacking needs.
Among parental insights from focus groups and online surveys, he said Sargento learned kids really enjoyed that Mighty Bites offer mini snacks.
“Smaller pieces were a true delight,” Hogan said. “It gave it this fun eating appeal.”
Mighty Bites are also within a similar range as other snack kits on the market. Hogan said it’s a balancing act to offer higher quality ingredients at a price that customers are willing to pay.
Mighty Bites adds to Sargento’s innovation
Price and Hogan both spoke to Mighty Bites contributing to Sargento’s enduring innovation.
The company was recently recognized as one of business magazine Fast Company’s 2026 “World’s Most Innovative Companies.” Sargento’s natural American sliced cheese ranked among the top 10 brands in the food category.
