A 30-year-old Bradenton pedestrian was killed in a traffic crash on State Road 70 in Manatee County at about 1:15 a.m. Friday, June 5.
Florida Highway Patrol reports a 59-year-old man was traveling eastbound in the inside lane of State Road 70 east of Fifth Street West. The pedestrian had stopped in the inside eastbound lane to fix his bicycle when the 2019 Ram 5500 truck struck him.
The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.
FHP Traffic Homicide Investigator Cpl. Carl Hupchick is investigating the crash.

According to the Florida Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles crash dashboard, there have been a total of 5,347 crashes involving pedestrians between Jan. 1 and May 29, 2026.
There have been a total of 204 pedestrian fatalities in traffic crashes in Florida.
In Manatee County, there have been 91 pedestrian crashes and 6 pedestrian fatalities in 2026.
Neighboring Sarasota County has seen 72 pedestrian crashes and 4 pedestrian fatalities in 2026.
