Five Volusia-Flagler flag football teams earned bids to the FHSAA playoffs in the organization’s bracket reveal show April 26.
Deltona earned the No. 1 seed in Region 2-2A as the No. 11 overall team in Florida, according to the FHSAA. The Wolves are the highest-seeded squad from the Volusia-Flagler area with a 17-0 record and a District 7-2A title, and they’ll host No. 8 Vanguard.
Should Deltona move on to the regional semifinals, there’s a chance it’ll play Volusia County counterpart New Smyrna Beach in a District 7-2A title game rematch. The Barracudas earned the No. 5 seed and will have to beat No. 4 Nature Coast Tech for that to happen.
Region 1-4A also has two Volusia-Flagler area competitors in No. 4 Flagler Palm Coast and No. 7 Spruce Creek.
Flagler Palm Coast will have an opportunity to avenge its loss in the District 2-4A title game with a road game at No. 5 Forest, who beat the Bulldogs 26-7 to win the school’s first-ever district flag football championship.
Spruce Creek visits No. 2 Seminole on the road.
Atlantic, the District 9-1A champion, is the final local school to make the FHSAA playoffs as the lone Class 1A representative. Like Port Orange’s other high school, Spruce Creek, the Sharks are also the No. 7 seed, and they’ll visit No. 2 John Carroll Catholic in the Region 3-1A quarterfinals.
Atlantic, Deltona and New Smyrna Beach begin their postseason journeys on April 28, while Flagler Palm Coast and Spruce Creek play their quarterfinals a day later.
