4 takeaways from Jaguars re-signing CB Montaric Brown

The Jacksonville Jaguars have reportedly agreed to terms on a new deal with cornerback Montaric Brown prior to free agency beginning.

Let’s take a closer look at this move and what it means for the Jaguars moving forward.

Montaric Brown’s 2025 season

Brown took a big step forward last season, showcasing his abilities to start on a weekly basis and perform at a high level while doing so. He allowed a completion rate of just 54% on 68 targets and held opponents to just 10.4 yards per catch.

Brown also flashed impressive ball production, coming away with two interceptions and forcing nine pass breakups.

What is Montaric Brown’s contract?

The specifics of the deal haven’t been reported yet, but we do know that this is a three-year deal worth $33 million. At $11 million per year, Brown ranks 26th among cornerbacks in average annual value for the 2026 season.

How does this impact the NFL draft?

By re-signing Brown, the Jaguars will now enter the NFL draft with a lot more flexibility. No longer is addressing the cornerback position a must right away. James Gladstone can let the board dictate what he does.

With that said, I wouldn’t be surprised either if we still see the Jaguars add to this unit to bolster the depth and competition on the back end.

Jaguars updated cornerback depth chart

With Brown back in the fold, the cornerback position for the Jaguars looks quite good, with Brown and Travis Hunter on the outside, Jourdan Lewis at the nickel, and Jarrian Jones providing depth.
