Summer is here, sort of, and it is everyone’s favorite time of the year, scouting time. Every year, we do Summer Scouting to preview college football for Bucs fans, but also give them an idea of names to follow and watch in the fall as needs pop up for Tampa Bay.
Are we going to write about quarterbacks? Offensive tackles? Edge rushers? You know it, but why? Because other NFL teams will draft them, just as they will draft every other position. It all matters whether these players end up on the Bucs, the Bears, or the Steelers. We write these so Bucs fans can be the most informed fans.
So if you are still with us, enjoy our latest Summer Scouting report as we prepare you for the Fall.

Player Summary
AJ Green enters the 2026 season as an intriguing developmental edge rusher for Louisville. Despite appearing in 30 games over the past three seasons, Green has logged just 565 defensive snaps during his college career. That relatively small workload gives evaluators a unique profile to study, as he has shown flashes of production while still having less on-field experience than many draft-eligible edge defenders.
Physically, Green checks several boxes that teams look for at the position. At 6-foot-6 and 250 pounds, he possesses the length and frame to play in multiple alignments across the defensive front. The film showed a defender capable of lining up as both a 3-technique and a 5-technique, while also demonstrating comfort working twists and stunts designed to create pressure opportunities.
The strongest area of Green’s game is his ability to affect the quarterback. He posted an 82.3 pass-rush grade in 2025 and generated 38 pressures on 202 pass-rush snaps. When isolated against blockers, he has shown the ability to create disruption and force quarterbacks off their spots. His pass-rush approach frequently utilizes inside hand placement, though there are opportunities for further refinement. At times, his hands will climb high into the chest and shoulders of blockers, limiting his ability to fully extend and separate through contact.
With only 565 career snaps entering the season, Green remains a relatively unpolished prospect whose best football could still be ahead of him. The combination of size, positional flexibility, pass-rush production, and limited mileage makes him a player worth monitoring closely as Louisville begins its 2026 campaign.
