USC safety commit Gavin Williams discusses choosing the Trojans

On Sunday, Lincoln Riley and USC picked up another big commitment, landing four-star safety Gavin Williams. 247Sports Composite ranks Williams as the No. 159 overall player and the No. 11 safety in the class of 2027.

In an interview with 247Sports, Williams discussed his decision to choose the Trojans.

“USC has always been home to me,” Williams said. “I’ve been to so many games, and the going there as a recruit, it has always felt like home.

“My mom, my sister, my brothers are all I have. I have to take care of them, so having them close and being able to come out and see me anytime was something I thought a lot about.

“There really is nothing else like it. There isn’t anything I don’t like about USC.”

After signing the No. 1 recruiting class in the country in 2026, USC currently holds another top five class in the 2027 cycle. As the calendar flips to summer, Riley and the Trojans will look to keep their recruiting momentum hot and wrap up another elite class on the recruiting trail.
