A semitrailer overturned late morning Oct. 27 on the railroad tracks in Oxnard, halting all trains through the region and causing significant vehicle traffic, with lanes reopening three hours later, authorities said.
Officers with the Oxnard Police Department arrived to the intersection of Rose Avenue and Fifth Street around 11:20 a.m. after the tractor-trailer attempted to make a turn and flipped on the tracks, said police Cmdr. Miguel Serrato.
The truck came to rest on the tracks, causing all planned northbound and southbound trains to be halted until the area is cleaned up, Serrato said. The incident also shut down the northbound lanes of Rose Avenue until 2 p.m., he added.
The woman driving the semi did not suffer any injuries from the crash, Serrato said.
Northbound Metrolink train 118, coming from Los Angeles, was halted for about 15 minutes in Camarillo while a secondary track was opened, said Laurene Lopez, a spokesperson for Metrolink
