The UCLA football team participated in media day on Wednesday, and three of the Bruins’ best players were interviewed by Mike Hall on the Big Ten Network.
Among those players was starting quarterback Nico Iamaleava, the junior who transferred to Westwood from Tennessee last summer.
Hall started the interview by asking each player about what feels different at UCLA this season under Bob Chesney compared to a year ago with DeShaun Foster. Hall later asked the Bruins trio what they’re most excited about this upcoming season.
“I think the main thing for us is not to look too far ahead. It’s taking it day-by-day,” Iamaleava foretold. “We’ll live with the results with the work we put in. I don’t think looking too far ahead and dwelling on other people’s expectations for us. We have an expectation, and that is to win. Coach Ches set that standard, we realized that and we’re buying into that.”
After going 3-9 overall and 3-6 in conference play last year, UCLA has plenty of room to improve each week throughout 2026.
