Two men shot and killed at a Stockton flea market in January were recently identified as Angel Gustavo Muñoz, 26, and Sergio Guadalupe Muñoz, 34, both of Stockton, according to the San Joaquin County Medical Examiner’s Office.
At about 12 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 18, the Stockton Police Department responded to the 2500 block of South El Dorado Street on a report of a shooting. Three people with gunshot wounds were located upon officers arrival. The two men were found dead and a woman suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
As of Friday, Feb. 6, Stockton police have not confirmed who the woman injured was in connection with the shooting.
The investigation is ongoing, police said in an email to The Record on Wednesday, Feb. 4.
“As the investigation continues, we encourage anyone who has information regarding this incident to contact the Stockton Police Department or submit tips via crime stoppers,” said Officer Omer Edhah, a Stockton Police Department spokesperson.
In an updated Stockton Police Department statement from Jan. 28, authorities said the shooting is being ruled a “self-defense case during a robbery.”
The business’ employees are not currently being charged, according to the statement.
When asked why the shooting was ruled self-defense and if there could be charges pressed against the business owners at a later time Edhah referred any legal questions to the San Joaquin County District Attorney’s Office.
