Indio police have arrested two men on suspicion of murder in a 2022 shooting.
Detectives responded to a shooting at 45-955 Grace Street around 2 a.m. on Dec. 23, 2022, the Indio Police Department said. The victim, whom police did not identify, had died at the scene from multiple gunshot wounds. Then-police spokesperson Ben Guitron said in 2022 that the victim appeared to be an adult man.
The police department said detectives’ initial investigation didn’t provide many answers, but they collected physical evidence at the scene, executed search warrants and interviewed those who had been there during the shooting.
They identified 21-year-olds Efren David Bracamonte and Isaac Anthony Martinez as suspects. Police did not say whether they suspect a motive.
Authorities arrested Martinez on Sept. 5 on suspicion of murder and accessory to a crime, and Bracamonte on Sept. 10 on suspicion of murder, the department said. Both remained in custody as of Friday with Martinez’s bail set at $1 million and Bracamonte’s at $2 million.
