The limited-edition bags keep coming from Trader Joe’s, which is releasing a new set of its insulated mini totes.
The California-based specialty grocer is launching its new Summer Fun Mini Insulated Totes, a Trader Joe’s spokesperson confirmed with the Reno Gazette Journal.
Trader Joe’s shared an image of its six new mini cooler bags — four with the classic palm tree design and two with new striped designs:
The insulated mini totes are designed to hold snacks, drinks and groceries while keeping them cool.
“Many of our customers have also found that they make quite a statement when used to carry your lunch along to school or work, too,” Trader Joe’s said in a statement.
What to know about Trader Joe’s insulated bags?
Each insulated mini tote bag has a 1.5-gallon capacity and measures 10 inches wide, 6 inches tall and 6 inches deep. In addition to zipper tops, each bag also has two reinforced handles.
Trader Joe’s has previously released the insulated mini totes in other colors, including magenta, teal, peach and electric blue.
The Summer Fun Mini Insulated Totes will be available at Trader Joe’s stores nationwide on Wednesday, May 20, for $3.99 per bag.
The new summer-themed insulated mini totes are the latest bag release from Trader Joe’s, which has seen its totes go viral in recent years.
What other totes are offered by Trader Joe’s
Trader Joe’s just confirmed last month that it will be releasing striped versions of its popular canvas mini tote bags this summer. The striped mini totes will be the newest design after the Halloween-themed mini tote bags released in October. The mini canvas tote bags were originally available in blue, green, red and yellow, which were last rereleased in December.
Trader Joe’s also recently rereleased its pastel mini canvas totes in March. The Easter-themed design was originally released in spring last year, attracting long lines at several stores.
Last month, Trader Joe’s released a new version of its $8.99 insulated bag, which it calls the Lavender Reusable Insulated Bag. Trader Joe’s also released its large $3.99 canvas tote bag in lavender in March.
Last December, Trader Joe’s released its large canvas tote bag in green. Normally available in blue, the large tote bag has been selling out after gaining popularity.
During the same month, Trader Joe’s also released even smaller versions of its popular tote bag, which it called canvas micro tote bags. The bags were available in blue, green, and red and came with a folded reusable shopping bag inside.

Where was the first Trader Joe’s?
In 1967, Joe Coulombe opened the first Trader Joe’s in Pasadena.
The grocery chain was quirky from the beginning. Coulombe based the store’s nautical décor on a book he’d read called “White Shadows in the South Seas,’’ as well as his experience visiting the Jungle Cruise ride at Disneyland, according to the company’s website. Employees were dubbed captains and first mates who wore Hawaiian-themed shirts.

The stores were unique in other ways. His mother-in-law and father-in-law had been academics who enjoyed dining on fresh seafood and quality yet affordable wines. Trader Joe’s would cater to those with similar, sophisticated tastes who were also on a budget.
Trader Joe’s became known for a selective array of premium foods available at low prices. Coulombe sampled and chose everything his stores sold and invited employees and customers to tastings.
In 1972, Trader Joe’s also introduced its private-label products, starting with granola and later incorporating items ranging from coffee to apple juice to heat-and-serve entrees. Coulombe would use images from 19th-century advertisements for the labels and named the items himself.
Coulombe sold Trader Joe’s to the German grocery retailer Aldi Nord in 1979. Since then, the chain has grown from 19 stores, all based in California, to more than 500 locations in 42 states and Washington, D.C.In 2002, it introduced the Charles Shaw label to its wine selection. The award-winning wine became a beloved pop culture fixture known as “Two-Buck Chuck’’ because it was so affordable.
