105.5?!? Jacob Misiorowski throws one of the fastest pitches ever

Think Jacob Misiorowski was fired up to face the Chicago Cubs?

On his third pitch of his start June 26, Misiorowski unleashed the fastest pitch of his career – and by definition the fastest ever tracked by a starting pitcher.

On an 0-2 count on the first batter of the game, Misiorowski reared back and fired a 105.5 mph fastball to Cubs center fielder Pete Crow-Armstrong.

One hundred five miles per hour.

It was not only the fastest pitch ever chucked by a starting pitcher (breaking Misiorowski’s own previously-set record of 104.5 mph) but tied for the third-fastest tracked by any pitcher ever. Aroldis Chapman currently owns the fastest pitch ever tracked at 105.8 mph, as well as the second-fastest of 105.7 mph.

Incredibly, Crow-Armstrong got a bat on it, fouling it back, although he would later strike out on a curveball.

Misiorowski threw 12 fastballs in a 1-2-3 inning, all of which were at 102 mph or above.
