This Pixley Elementary School student wins Character Counts for Fairness. Here's why

Viviana Sanchez is a fourth-grader at Pixley Elementary School and is the Character Counts winner for Fairness.

Viviana was able to take a problem to the principal and communicate in a respectful manner, according to nominator Catherine Costa.

Last year, while in third grade, Viviana saw that a student was being unfairly given special treatment that negatively affected the whole class at lunch. Instead of causing a problem with the student, she spoke with the principal and explained what was happening and how it was unfair to all the students, Costa said.

“I was impressed by her respect, trustworthiness, and her dedication to fairness,” Costa said.

The principal resolved the issue without anyone getting their feelings hurt. Her actions proved that Viviana is a confident young student, Costa added.
