After helping the Silverado softball team to a CIF-Southern Section Division 7 quarterfinals appearance, Alexis Rodriguez has been named the Desert Sky League’s Player of the Year.
The junior helped Silverado to a third-place finish in the league standings with her bat and in the circle.
In 12 league games, Rodriguez hit for a .579 average with four home runs, 25 RBIs and nine runs. In the circle, Rodriguez also struck out 54 batters over 66 ⅔ innings.
Overall on the season, Rodriguez struck out 107 batters with a 5.32 ERA over 130 innings. At the dish, she hit for a .507 average with four home runs, 40 RBIs, 22 runs and two stolen bases.
Rodriguez is joined by three teammates who received All-DSL First Team honors.
Granite Hills, which captured first place in the standings, leads the way with five First Team selections, including pitcher Kathryn McCartney.
The junior ended the season with a .520 average, eight home runs, 34 RBIs and 28 runs, while going 10-2 in the circle with 60 strikeouts and a 4.71 ERA over 74.1 innings.
Sophomore Ce’onie Turner highlights Adelanto’s four First Team selections after leading the team to the CIF-SS Div. 6 semifinals. On the season, Turner hit for a .612 average with 12 home runs, 62 RBIs, 47 runs and 19 stolen bases. She also racked up 86 strikeouts over 87 ⅔ innings in the circle.
