The Rush Fire is burning approximately 20 acres as of 5 p.m., according to inter-agency fire reporting organization WatchDuty.
The Trinity County Sheriff’s Office downgraded to warnings evacuation orders issued earlier in afternoon for residents living near the Rush Fire, according to Cal Fire and WatchDuty.
People can check their evacuation zones on the Trinity County Evacuation map.
The Rush Fire began before 2:32 p.m. Friday near the 8000 block of Rush Creek Road at the Old Oak Road intersection, firefighters reported. The area is located along the Trinity River, and is about half a mile north of the Old Lewiston Bridge RV Resort.
The first crews to arrive reported seeing a large plume of smoke in the vicinity of Rush Creek Road and Old Oak Drive and asked for five additional engines to help battle the blaze.
Crews told dispatchers that the fire is between 20 and 40 acres with a moderate rate of spread. However, Cal Fire reported the fire was 10 acres.
Wind in that area was blowing west at 14 mph.
